Drove my wife's truck today and while changing channels came across a talk radio station (am 1160).
They where discussing the topic of the marines that felt the need to de- humanize the corpses of their freshly killed ''terrorists'' by peeing on them and videotaping their actions.
The host of the show kept comparing the war in Afghanistan to WWII and vietnam and trying to justify that what was done was tolerable.
The fact that he made these bold and ignorant statements clearly shows that statements made where without real thought. WWII has been one of the few recent wars fought by the US that has been completely justified and the countries involved will be forever grateful for there delayed response in their involvement. However, if the modern day technologies where available and if the Horrific acts that were performed to the Germans by the soldiers, support would have dwindled quickly. The same exact problems occurred during the vietnam war. The people of the US started hearing about the horrifying acts of terrorism that where inflicted by the US troops thus resulting in loss of support for the war.
Why the host even tried to come up with justifications is beyond me. The men and women involved deserve to be tried for their crimes. They need be made an example of and pay the price for what was done. The US military is supposed to be the superior super power of the world and if they want to keep it that way they need to make sure that they stay professional. We have created enough hate throughout the muslim and or world. Acting like a bunch of animals and creating more hate is never justifiable. If you say that you're better than someone else make sure you can back this up.
